FDB launches Small Business Awards for 2009

Business that are 100% locally owned and turning over $100,000 or less in gross sales a year are encouraged to enter the Fiji Development Bank Small Business Awards for 2009.
The 2009 Awards will be launched by FDB board member Mr. Josefa Serulagilagi on Wednesday, 21 October at the FDB Training Room on the 1st Floor, 360 Victoria Parade, Suva at 11am.
Fiji Developlemt Banks Small Business Award 2009The Small Business Awards commenced in August 2004 to promote Small Micro Enterprise (SME) development through the recognition of successful and innovative entrepreneurs who
are making a livelihood and in doing so collectively make a strong contribution to the Fiji economy.
The FDB supports the global ideal that small businesses are the cornerstone of new economic growth and it has a strong role to play in fostering new business development. The aim of the
Awards is to recognize SME’s and its contribution to the economy.

There are six categories under which, businesses can enter:

  1. Agriculture sponsored by Crest Chicken.
  2. Tourism sponsored by Fiji Sun.
  3. Manufacturing sponsored by New India Assurance.
  4. Professional Services sponsored by Connect.
  5. Wholesale/Retail sponsored by FINTEL.
  6. Open Category sponsored by the Reserve Bank of Fiji.

Filled entry forms are to be returned to any FDB Branch or mailed to 2009 Small Business Awards, GPO Box 109, Suva or dropped off at the Fiji Development Bank, 360 Victoria Parade, Suva before
3pm on Friday, 18 December 2009.

Winners will get $1,500 in prize money, a plaque and a certificate.

The Awards will be presented on Thursday, 21 January 2010.
