Fiji Development Bank Honours Fiji’s Outstanding Entrepreneurs at the FDB National SME Awards 2025

Suva, Fiji. The Fiji Development Bank (FDB) celebrated the achievements of Fiji’s most outstanding small and medium enterprises at the FDB National SME Awards 2025, held on Friday, 24 July 2026, recognising entrepreneurs whose innovation, resilience and leadership continue to drive economic growth and create opportunities across the country.

The prestigious awards ceremony brought together government leaders, the private sector, development partners, sponsors and members of the business community to honour SMEs that are making significant contributions to Fiji’s economy through enterprise, innovation and sustainable business practices.

The event was officiated by the Honourable President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, whose presence highlighted the national importance of fostering entrepreneurship and supporting the continued growth of Fiji’s SME sector.

Speaking at the event, FDB Chief Executive Officer, Filimone Waqabaca said the National SME Awards are a celebration of the people behind Fiji’s businesses and the determination that transforms ideas into thriving enterprises.

“Tonight, has been more than an awards ceremony. It has been a celebration of ambition, resilience, innovation and determination. It has been a reminder that behind every successful enterprise is an individual, a family, or a team that dared to dream, took risks, and worked tirelessly to turn opportunities into achievements.”

Mr. Waqabaca said the awards reflect the growing strength of Fiji’s SME sector and the vital role entrepreneurs play in building stronger communities and a more resilient economy.

“At Fiji Development Bank, supporting SMEs is not just part of our mandate. It is at the very heart of who we are. For decades, we have stood alongside entrepreneurs, farmers, innovators and business owners, providing the financial support and development opportunities needed to help transform ideas into thriving enterprises.”

The evening recognised excellence across a range of business categories, with the following entrepreneurs and businesses taking home top honours:

• Overall National SME of the Year 2025 – House of Salt
• Sustainable SME of the Year – House of Salt
• Best Agri-Business SME of the Year – Shahils Party Ice and Frozen Supplies
• Women’s Entrepreneur of the Year – Alchemus Prime
• Youth Entrepreneur of the Year – Nailed It
• Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year – Leone Vulaca Prosthetic and Orthotic Centre
• Best Businessperson of the Year – Apakuki Nalawa of Resonance Entertainment
• Best Cooperative SME of the Year – Lavena Coastal Walk Eco-Tourism Co-operative Limited
• Best Maritime SME of the Year – Delaivuna Farm Fresh Eggs

Special recognition was given to House of Salt, with founder Jone Waitaiti receiving both the Sustainable SME of the Year Award and the coveted Overall National SME of the Year Award, recognising the business’s outstanding performance, innovation and contribution to Fiji’s SME landscape.

Mr. Waqabaca also acknowledged the critical role played by government, sponsors and development partners in supporting the continued growth of Fiji’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

“The success of these awards is a reflection of the strong partnerships that exist between the public and private sectors. Together, we are creating an environment where entrepreneurs can innovate, grow and contribute meaningfully to Fiji’s development.”
