The Fiji Development Bank (FDB) today launched its signature annual event, the National Small and Medium Enterprise Awards (NSMEA) 2022.
FDB’s NSMEA is the only platform in the country that recognizes and celebrates the achievements of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
While officiating at the launch, the Attorney-General and the Minister for Justice, Hon. Siromi Turaga said Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are crucial to our development and agencies such as the Government and FDB have the responsibility of unlocking our true potential to have thriving MSMEs.
“FDB plays a critical role in the development of MSMEs with its participation in numerous panels and committees of grant funding programs. Steering towards improving livelihood and elevation of commercial growth for our local MSMEs.”
“Therefore, it is highly fitting that we are here today to launch FDB’s NSME Awards. These platforms and awards give the recognition that our MSMEs truly deserve. MSMEs will continue to play an increasingly important role in keeping the global economy alive and moving forward.”
The Honorable AG reiterated the importance of recognizing and celebrating these vital segments of businesses.
“We can foster a strong and thriving MSME sector by encouraging excellence, increasing visibility, building confidence and providing networking opportunities. Recognizing and rewarding businesses create a competitive platform where one another would strive for excellence and success,” he added.
FDB CEO Mr. Saud Minam said the NSME Awards 2022 is an empowerment strategy to promote growth and boost the resilience of the SME sector in Fiji through the recognition of successful and innovative entrepreneurs.
“Despite the ongoing challenges, many of our SMEs have shown remarkable resilience, therefore, we encourage all the SMEs to go through the criteria on our website and apply for the awards,” said Mr. Minam.
FDB also launched its new website today which is part of enhancing the Bank’s digital service delivery.
There are three categories with 10 awards to win and one overall winner.
Category 1: Developing SMEs
Category 2: Impact Awareness SMEs
Category 3: Empowerment Awards
National SME of the Year
