If you want to become a successful farmer and wish to take a loan then choose Fiji Development Bank (FDB), says Salacieli Ravatuniwasaliwa.
Mr Ravatuniwasaliwa was one of the three recipients who received a special recognition award during the FDB Northern golden jubilee client cocktail party at the Friendly North Inn in Labasa on Tuesday night.
“Today I am a successful diversified livestock and large scale yaqona farmer in Nanivuda Village, Seaqaqa with the help I received from FDB. I chose FDB in 1976 because they were easy to be contacted and had nice attractive loan plan,” Mr Ravatuniwasaliwa said.
“Whatever I needed they assisted me with it.”
The 62-year-old father of two children and grandfather to four grandchildren, originally from Navakasiga, Bua, was surprised to receive the award.
“I never expected this because for me it was just about taking loans from FDB and doing my business,” he said.
“Thank you FDB for being faithful and recognising my relationship with you.
“My advice to all the farmers is to choose FDB if you want to reap greater benefits than you are currently having it now.
“There is no shame in taking loans as it is only two per cent interest rate.”
Mr Ravatuniwasaliwa is the longest serving client of FDB in the Northern Division.
He joined the bank in 1975 when he took a loan of $10,000 for establishment of his cane farm.
Meanwhile, FDB board of directors’ chairperson Robert Lyon said they are forging ahead with the ambitious goal of promoting financial inclusion across Fijian societies.
“As we move forward, FDB will continue to empower and develop Fijians as it has been doing so for generations,” Mr Lyon said.
“We will continue to strategically fund development projects with the aim of moving forward to boost the resilience of the Fijian economy.
And with the partnership of our clients we will live up to our strongly cemented development role expectation.”
