Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa has challenged the Fiji Development Bank Officials to continue to provide financial assistance and encourage women entrepreneurs in Fiji.
She says to be truly inclusive they need to actively seek female participation in business.
Vuniwaqa says this is because the women of this country have convinced her that they have the capacity, the commitment and the drive to contribute towards economic development.
She adds that this is evident as a group of women earned almost half a million dollars within the space of 3 days at the Women’s Expo in Suva in June this year by selling products they made themselves in the comfort of their own homes.
Vuniwaqa says the Fijian government will continue to provide women with incentives and opportunities to grow but the onus is on FDB to make that first move ‑ and what better time to start than now when there are fee waivers for loans.
